A terrific read for romance and mainstream fiction readersBy M. Geffner
"Fringe Benefits," a debut novel from romance author Christine Pope, is an enjoyable easy read. The novel is well-paced and suspenseful as the romantic intrigue between the likeable heroine Katherine Wheeler and her two very different love interests--the Hollywood bad boy Jonah and the mysterious Pieter Van Rijn--heats up. The main characters are fun and interesting, and the minor characters are straight out of real life in Los Angeles. The local weather and the earthquake(!) are also very realistically portrayed and fun to read. The descriptions are vivid and colorful, and they keep the novel moving along to the wonderful romantic ending. If you're a romance fan who likes a story that's steamy, but not graphic, you'll be delighted by this novel. It's also a winner for mainstream fiction readers who like a little romance as well.
