5Heart-felt. Captivating. A must read. . .

By Carol Davis Luce

I strayed from my usual genre of mystery/suspense to read Dani Amore's newest novel, To Find a Mountain, because the product description of this story, based on real life, intrigued me. The story of Benedetta Carlessimo, a young woman--a mere girl, actually--is forced to care for and protect her siblings in a German occupied town in Italy during World War II. This engaging story is of courage, love, honor, and the atrocities of war. Thought provoking, as well as deeply emotional, Benedetta's story will remain with you long after you reach the end. Her bravery will amaze you. If you read only one historical fiction this year, make it To Find a Mountain. You'll be glad you did.

5Powerful and moving.

I'm a big fan of World War Two intrigue. This novel approaches it from a whole different angle. The heroine of the kindle book is a young Italian girl named Benedetta Carlessimo. Her mother is dead, and Benedetta cares for her two younger siblings, and her father. That is, until the Germans arrive and set up Headquarters at Benedetta's house, because of its location overlooking the valley below. The pressure builds gradually, as her father is sent to the front to fight alongside the Germans, and a creepy German soldier starts stalking the girl. Ultimately, the action escalates and becomes a great suspense/thriller right to the very end. I really enjoyed this kindle book, and at $2.99 it's a bargain, in my opinion.

5Beautifully Written Tale about a small Italian village during WWII

By Maggie Joe

What a pleasant surprise! The story was endearing, gripping, and very real. The author delved deep into the psyche of the poor Italians who were under the often cruel and rare kindnesses of the Germans who seized their village. It is a story of survival, of love. Beautifully edited and written, this is one kindle book that I have to list as a favourite. The story fits with my own family's experiences in another small Italian village just south of this novel's setting. If you want a story with fascinating characters that doesn't wilt and tells it like it was, I strongly recommend this novel. Loved it.
